Traffic Signal Contractors Have a Tough Job

You probably hear – and maybe tell – jokes about how lazy road construction crews are. If you give it a moment’s objective thought, though, you realize just how much stress road contractors operate under. They are dealing exclusively with government business, so profit margins are razor thin. The work itself, of course, has to be completed with all possible speed – regardless of how busy workers might look to motorists, they are racing against deadlines and vicious liquidated damage penalties. Traffic signal contractors are in the same rickety boat. They have to deal with the added challenge of performing exceptionally difficult work to an exceptionally high standard – traffic lights need to be as reliable as possible. The assembly of a traffic signal is a basic welding job, but it needs to be performed in difficult circumstances, with all possible speed, and in compliance with the most stringent standards for quality welding.
